About Triad Suzuki Academy

Our Story

Our journey began about ten years ago with a vision: to bring the transformative power of music into the lives of children. Founded by Olivia Eakes, a passionate advocate for the Suzuki Method and professional violinist, Triad Suzuki Academy has grown from a modest studio into a flourishing community of students, parents, and teachers, all united by a love for music.

Our Philosophy

Inspired by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki's belief that "Every Child Can," our teaching philosophy centers around the idea that musical ability is not an innate talent but a skill that can be developed. Music education at our academy goes beyond learning to play an instrument—it's about building character, cultivating discipline, and fostering a positive spirit.

Our Programs

We offer a comprehensive range of music education programs for students aged 3 months old and up, including:

Individual Violin Lessons: Tailored one-on-one instruction that focuses on the individual needs and pace of each student.

Soaring with Suzuki: Our early childhood education program introduces young learners to the world of music through engaging and interactive lessons.

Group Violin Classes: Ensemble and group lessons that encourage students to learn together, perform together, and grow together.

Special Workshops and Masterclasses: Opportunities for students to learn from visiting artists and educators, expanding their musical horizons.

Our Community

Triad Suzuki Academy is more than just a place for music lessons; it's a vibrant community where students and families come together to share in the joy of music. From recitals and concerts to community outreach and performances, we believe in using our music to make a positive impact.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS

Olivia Eakes
Director

Olivia Eakes is a violin teacher and performer based in Greensboro NC. As an instructor, Ms. Olivia, is trained in the Suzuki violin method through unit 7 and teaches through Unit 10. She is also trained in the Suzuki Early Childhood Education curriculum. Growing up as a violinist, Olivia began playing at the age of three. A few years later she was immersed in the Irish fiddling tradition and can sometimes be found performing with local Irish bands and dance groups. Olivia received a degree in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Olivia has spent several years teaching in the nonprofit sector with the Miami Music Project and Greater Miami Youth Symphony as both a teaching artist and conductor. She regularly volunteers with local Suzuki Associations to plan exciting additional opportunities for her students and others in the community. Olivia is passionate about providing a path for excellent music education for all.

In addition to teaching music lessons, Olivia maintains a steady performance schedule and has performed with artists such as Shakira, Jose Feliciano, Arturo Sandoval, Lynn Harrel, and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenburg to name a few. She has collaborated as a recording studio musician with several artists including Gloria Estefan and Pharrell Williams. When she is not teaching or performing, Olivia can be found crafting or cooking a tasty meal.

Alyssa Anderson
Teaching Artist

Alyssa Anderson began her journey with the violin at the age of 11, while living in Northern Ireland. After winning 1st place in a soloist competition, her private lessons teacher encouraged her to audition for the Ulster Youth Orchestra. She auditioned and was accepted at the age of 14. Upon her return to the US, shewas inducted into the Western Piedmont Youth Symphony, an environment that helped her grow in her skills and gave her a clear direction for college.

Alyssa graduated high school and immediately went on to earn her music education degree with a proficiency in violin. She first attended Piedmont International University in Winston Salem, and then went on to CCC&TI, where she received her associate in fine arts. Alyssa studied violin under Fabian Lopez at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She, performed in both Sinfonia and the University Symphony Orchestra, led a violin class for the Boys and Girls Club at the Salvation Army and taught private lessons through the UNCG Private Lessons Program.

Alyssa graduated with her music education degree in 2018 and has since been teaching music privately from her home in Graham, N.C. where she lives with her husband and children. Now, you can also find her performing most Saturdays with Dean's Duets and leading her worship team on Sunday morning for her church.

“Music exists for the purpose of growing an admirable heart.”
