Studio and Lessons Policies
Cancellations, make-up lessons, practice, group classes, and the other policies that keep lessons at the studio running smoothly.
Welcome to the Triad Suzuki Academy! Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment for students to learn violin through the Suzuki method, fostering both musical ability and personal growth. This handbook outlines our studio and lesson policies to ensure a positive and productive experience for all members of our community.
Cancellation Policy
- Lessons cancelled by the student with less than 24 hours’ notice will not be eligible for a make-up lesson or refund.
- If the instructor cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time.
- To avoid cancelling lessons, times may be swapped for single events among studio families.
Lesson Make-Up Policy
- Make-up lessons are offered for lessons missed due to illness or family emergencies, provided that 24 hours’ notice is given.
- A maximum of two make-up lessons will be allowed per semester.
Practice Policies

- Practice assignments will be given at the end of each lesson, and parents are encouraged to be involved in the practice sessions for younger students.
Studio Behavior Expectations

Materials Needed
- Students are required to have their instrument, bow, rosin, music books, and a notebook for each lesson.
- Additional materials may be recommended by the instructor as needed.
Group Class Policies
- Group classes are an integral part of the Suzuki method. Attendance is highly encouraged as they provide essential ensemble experience and peer learning opportunities.
- Students must be enrolled in a private lesson in order to participate in group class.
- Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared for each group class.
Beginner Parent Resources
- Parents of beginners are required to attend an introductory Suzuki method workshop offered by the studio.
- A list of recommended readings and resources will be provided to support your understanding and implementation of the Suzuki philosophy at home.
Annual Studio Agreement
- Enrollment in the Triad Suzuki Academy requires the signing of an annual studio agreement, outlining the commitment to the policies and expectations of the studio.
Semester Schedule
- The studio operates on a semester basis, with fall and spring semesters aligning with the local school district calendar.
- Summer lessons and workshops are offered on a more flexible schedule.
Performance Etiquette and Dress Code
- Students are expected to perform in studio recitals, providing an opportunity to share their progress and celebrate achievements.
- Performance attire should be neat, respectful, and appropriate for a formal event. Specific guidelines will be provided prior to each performance.
