Suzuki violin lessons
Violin was the first Suzuki method instrument. Our curriculum runs through ten units, from Pre-Twinkle for the absolute beginner to major concertos. Once a student has a solid technical foundation, we happily encourage other styles such as fiddling and pop. Spaces for individual lessons are limited, so register for a trial lesson to get started.
Suzuki viola lessons
We also teach Suzuki viola. Dr. Eric Eakes, who holds a doctorate in viola performance, teaches both violin and viola, so students who love the deeper voice of the viola are in expert hands.

Violin
One-on-one Suzuki violin lessons for ages three and up, from a first Pre-Twinkle bow hold all the way through the ten-unit curriculum.
Viola
One-on-one Suzuki viola lessons for students drawn to its deeper voice, guided by Dr. Eric Eakes, who holds a doctorate in viola performance.
Group Class
Joyful group learning that builds ensemble skills and a real sense of community alongside individual lessons.

We are age inclusive, welcoming students from very young beginners on up. Our instructors are experienced performers and teachers, scheduling is flexible with in-person lessons in Kernersville and virtual lessons upon request, and families find real community and support here.
The Suzuki method
Dr. Shinichi Suzuki first began teaching young children in Japan in the 1930s, on the principle that every child can learn music at a high level. The method draws on the way children learn language, through parent involvement, listening, repetition, group learning, and constant encouragement. In his words:
“Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.”

Audition preparation
Our audition preparation covers both the mental and physical sides of a confident audition. We offer it as private coaching, on request.
Music theory lessons
Dr. Eric Eakes, who holds a doctorate in viola performance, teaches private lessons in classical music theory to teens and adults on any instrument or voice. Lessons cover harmony, voice leading, form, and analysis, and can prepare a student for AP Music Theory or a college entrance theory exam.

- Yes. Parents take part; the parent-teacher-child partnership is the heart of the Suzuki approach, and class is where families learn together.
